10 Awesome Design Brands You May (or may not) Have Heard Of
Retail vs Trade? Online vs brick and mortar? There are many furniture brands out there to choose from to achieve your perfect design aesthetic we wanted to share some of our favorite brands that you may (or may) not have heard.
Started in 2004, Georg Baehler and Stephanie Lu sought to create and manufacture furniture that is beautifully handcrafted, affordable, and available (which is hard to come by nowadays!) Their design is an amalgamation of classic, mixed with contemporary, and offers everything from eye-catching pieces statement pieces like their New York sideboard to classic designs like the Jude Side Chair (yeah we all know the one.) Assortment of products ranges from Bedroom, Dining and Occasional with a mid to high price range. You can find them through trade and select retail stores.
Originally founded in 1988 this company started by Robert and Suzanne Currey is best known for their exquisitely crafted lighting that includes chandeliers, wall sconces, table and floor lamps but also extends to furniture, upholstery and accessories. Their company focuses on sustainability and a thriving culture throughout their business. Check out their Grand Lotus Black Large Chandelier or the Verona Black Sideboard for some eyecatching pieces (are we obsessed with beautiful sideboards… maybe so.) Price points are mostly on the higher end and can be found though trade and some retailers.
3. Albany Park
Former NFL linebacker Darryl Sharpton started this company with his wife Jessica as a way to bring affordable and convenient furniture pieces to all homes. The Mid Century Modern collection offers a limited selection of pieces to cut down on anxiety of choosing the right piece and always ship faster than other brands in similar categories (because as much as we love sideboards, we love easy and convenient order tracking/deliveries) Their packaging always has sustainability in mind and comes in apartment-friendly and space-conscious boxes (there’s a Friends reference in there somewhere.) Based in Austin, Texas these magnificintly designed pieces combine beautiful materials and global inspiration to create a striking design in any home. Their personal pursuit to fostering relationships between consumer, retailers, designers, and everyone else involved lend to their powerful philophephy of designing more than just furniture. Pieces range from Living, Dining, Bedroom and outdoor furniture and prices can range from mid to high. 5. Uttermost
This Family owned business started in 1975 by Bob and Bell Cooper offers high-quality luxury accessories as well as occasional furniture. Their attention to detail makes for beautifully crafted decor and accessories with some of our favorites being their wall art like the Bahati Wall Art and mirrors like the Lev Mirror. You can find them through trade, their few showrooms, and some retailers, and are at a mid to high price point.
Founded in 1997 by Jamie Young Jeter and David Jeter as a casual luxury brand that brings approachable high-end design to consumers. These two have combined a mix of classic contemporary design with a coastal cool vibe. Their travels and global influence can be seen throughout their collection which covers accent furniture, lighting, and decor. Check out the beautiful details in their pieces like the Atlas Side Table and the Intertwined Object on Stand which range from mid to high price points.
